September Exciting News

Dear Friend and Family,

We apologize that it has been several weeks since you have heard any news from Haiti, however we have had many activities going on, and have just now found the time to update you.

Some of you may know that for some time we have had a young Haitian boy living with us and helping us in our ministry. Jeemps was from another part of Haiti, and I had known him since he was just a young boy. He came to Depsinos about two years ago, and began working along side us, helping interpret, helping with bible studies, working in the clinic pharmacy and in many other areas. He has been such an asset to our ministry.

He had begun studying in a school here in Haiti to be a pastor, but after the earthquake the school was destroyed. It is not easy to find a good, sound bible college in Haiti to send him to. Even before the earthquake we had begun to try to get him into the states and into God's Bible School and College in Cincinnati, OH. (Where we attended.)  In the month of April we began to correspond with the school on what papers he would need etc, but getting a visa during this time has not been very easy.

After a lot of prayer, and hard work, Jeemps was accepted to GBS in August! We quickly began to take the necessary steps to get his visa, and after much expense and many prayers later, he was granted his visa two days before needing to arrive at the school! God worked it all out, we were able to get tickets and get him to GBS!

This is a blessing to Haiti Gospel Mission, because it’s the first time in the history of the mission that it has helped someone further their education to this degree! We are confident Jeemps will do his very best and will succeed, and will follow his dream to come back and help minister to his people. He has such a heart for ministry and for those who are in need.

Going to The United States was a huge change for him! He was very surprised at our road system, and the fact that there were no security walls surrounding houses! He has just completed his first week at college, and he is very excited. There was a revival for the first week, and he really enjoyed it.

We ask that you please keep him in your prayers; he is very far from home, eating unfamiliar foods, with all new friends etc… Please pray also that he will have the necessary funds to succeed. God answered prayer and made it possible to get him to school, and many wonderful people pitched in and helped with the expense.  However, there are many expenses ahead of him. He has received a scholarship from the school that will really help with his expenses and he will be working in the school work program as well.

We really have no way of communication with him other than email and Facebook, because he does not have a phone in his dorm room. However he has been given a cell phone, it just needs to be activated. We can get him a simple plan where he would be able to receive phone calls from us and his family, but it will cost $40 a month.  We are looking for 4 or 5 people that would be able to give $5 or $10 a month to help him be able to have the phone. If you are interested, please just contact me and let me know. If any of you would like to write to Jeemps (I know he would love to get some mail) His address is :

Jeemps Pierre
c/o God's Bible School
1810 Young St.
Cincinnati, OH 45205

You can also find him on Facebook as well. Please pray for him and write if you are able. Please pray for us too. While we are happy to have him go and study, it leaves a big hole in our ministry, and also our family. He had grown very dear to us and it’s not the same without him here!

One more prayer request— This week we will have our annual convention for the mission. Just as Satan fights in our churches in America, he is fighting here as well. Pray that there will be much accomplished spiritually in this convention. Also, please don't forget to pray for the new converts and those that will be baptized on Sunday! We will have over 40 that will be baptized after spending 6 months in baptism classes.

Thank you so much for your prayers and concern!

August 2010 Update
Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings to you all, we know you are keeping busy this summer. We sure have been busy with company, but think we are nearing the end.
We have missed updating you for several weeks because we have been so busy running around with our visitors and doing ministry. We had a intern student here for 6 weeks from God’s Bible School, she just left us this week, we have also had two other young interns Madeline and Rachel from Kentucky, which are still here. They have really been involved in children’s ministry and organizing in the clinic, which has been very helpful. We have really enjoyed having them.
We also had Dr Kauffman a doctor from Georgia, who was here just after the earthquake. He spent another 3 weeks with us. We had a wonderful visit and he was very helpful around the clinic. While he was here we got to deliver our third baby in the clinic. A beautiful baby boy! 4 lbs 6 oz. It was a beautiful delivery, moments after the birth the mother began to sing a song of God’s grace, and she began to praise Him. It was very sweet.
Dr Kauffman was able to bring us some supplies, within those were some HIV test, which are a huge asset to the clinic. Unfortunatly, this week we had a very young girl test positive for HIV. Please keep her in your prayers.
In the last email I wrote I asked special prayer for the little 3 lb baby boy. Well, it wasn’t two days after that he passed away lying in a little basket in my room. Emma couldn’t understand what had happened to her baby. It was very frustrating and sad. Help me pray that the mother will not go and get pregnant again.
Just this past week we had a family visit from cinicinatti, the Walter family. We had a great week with them. They were able to build a really nice home for a mother of three children, who was living in a small mud hut, that had began to crumble due to the earthquake. She is so excited and cannot stop praising God for what He has done for her. Thanks to the Walter family for making this possible for Loni’s family.
This week has been a busy, happy and sad week. Our two girls that were here for three weeks have gone home, and we miss them a lot. In the same week April’s mom and some church members came. It has been a good week them. Emma was very excited to see her “mamaw”. It was so good to see her. Daniel came with over 100 soccer balls to pass out! You can imagine the excitement and chaos giving those balls out! We have given out balls galore, the kids are still coming to the gate wanting balls. Unfortunatly, they have gone home already, Emma is upset we did not buy her a ticket to go home with mamaw.
We have written several times about Jeemps Pierre, a young boy that lives with us. Finally after two years, he has been accepted to GBS! We are so excited, he is beside himself with excitement. Please pray this week as he goes for his visa that everything goes well, if all goes well he will be heading to the states next week sometime.
We have much more to say, but will save it for our next letter. Hope you have a wonderful day. God Bless you.
