My name is April Hess. I grew up in a Pastors home , where I was taught biblical standards and principles to live by. I accepted Christ at the age of 12 and  began teaching Sunday school at the age of 14. At a very young age, God began speaking to my heart about missions. I would sit in church and listen to a missionary share their experiences, and my heart would about pound out of my chest. We had a family friend that was a missionary nurse in Haiti, and I always admired her work, and wondered if God would allow me to do something similar. At the age of 15, the Lord made it very clear to me, that He was calling me into full time missions. At the age of 17, I visited the country of Bolivia, and the age of 18 the country of Haiti. It did not take many short trips into Haiti, for the people to get a hold of my heart. I attended God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, OH. I majored in the missions program, and attended the local secular college for nursing.

In January of 2003, I was married to my wonderful husband Joel, and we spent the next four years serving in the marine corps. In those four years we were able to start making necessary arrangement to move to Haiti. In November of 2005, I gave birth to a beautiful little girl named Emma.  In April of 2007, after ten months on the road traveling and raising funds, we were ready to move to Haiti, and begin ministering.   We are going on three years of serving God in Haiti. It has been very adventurous and challenging at times. But God has never failed us and always given us the strength needed.

There is so much suffering and pain, and we are so thankful that God is allowing us to be a part of trying to help and heal those who are physically and spiritually in need.
